As usual a group of Croydon’s finest headed down to Plymouth this year for the traditional Easter Beano. We were diving form the excellent hard boat Venture skippered by the jolly northern pirate Pete Fergus.
I’m not going to do a long write up for this one, suffice to say the diving was excellent, the booze was excellent and the curries at the Ganges were shit (for a laugh read the Trip Advisor reviews – even these didn’t stop us going there three times and walking past 4 other curry houses to get there!).
Dives were as follows:
- Fri: Persia and Glen Strathallen
- Sat: Rosehill and JEL
- Sun: JEL and Scylla
- Mon: Blown out : (
Visibility ranged from a couple of m on the Rosehill to 9/10m on the Persia. Temp on most dives was 9/10 degrees. It was flat calm on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday, but unfortunately on the Monday the wind picked up to gale-force so Pete binned it.
Special thanks to Pete and cabin-boy James for looking after us all, to the Mayflower Guest House for sorting the bed and breakfast needs and to the Maritime Inn and the Yardarm for keeping our thirsts quenched. I’d also like to the thank the Ganges for making half the crew’s guts explode like Vesuvius on a bad day.
Some of my photos below, for some excellent underwater shots check out Croydon member Jason Street’s website (he took the cuttlefish one above).
